45. Chandra Neer

Agam POV

Its two week after coronation and I am in my royal court, sitting there as the king.

Today we are going over some of the revised rules for Suryagarh that is going to be introduced.

The finance advisor is standing beside his spokesperson, his throat hasn't healed till now which is good for me as I don't have to listen to his irritating voice.

Viraj and Ekansh are also here. They arrived today.

'Everything is looking good. The royal treasure has been filling up good by the trades provided in Suryagarh.'

I know that but I want him to get on the thing which I asked the advisor to do.

The spokesperson further says,

'Now its time for the approval of king for some new measures, since the produce has been good and these all things are provided by our people only, so the cabinet of ministers decided that instead of annual meetings for budget distribution, will be now half yearly.'

That what I wanted, it looks like that he has started to listen to me.

He further says,

'These budget given to them will be purely used for our people, by the representatives of the region and their salary will not be cut out from the budget, it will be handed to them seperately.'

After the spokesperson stops, the advisor glares at me but I just raise my eyebrow to indicate him to continue.

The advisor nods for spokesperson to continue,

'Half yearly checkups of people will be done, it is also decided that if certain region of Suryagarh is hit with any disaster, affecting the goods of people on large scale then that region will be exempt from paying tax and compensation will be according to the damage goods, with final stamp of the king.'

He stands back after relaying the changes.

I look at the advisor and give him a mocking smile then address the whole court,

'Don't worry, I won't be fooled by fake disasters and loss because if that is done there is a punishment for the villagers as well as the representative of that region.'

Looking pointedly at the head chief, then I look at the advisor smilingly and say,

'You didn't made one counter measure for the half yearly budget distribution.'

There is an undercurrent of threat in my tone which he recognizes and checks his scroll with a panic.

I smilingly say,

'No worries, in every half yearly meeting before budget distribution, the representatives have to give the whole chart of where they spend what and what is kept as savings for the regions, if something suspicious is found then the budget won't be given until the suspicion is cleared.'

Everyone agress with it. Addressing the court,

'Punishment measures are still under development which will be discussed in next meeting, now we move onto some new trade measure, education and job opportunities.'

But first the new measure which I had been waiting to introduce after becoming king.

The time has come for that so I say,

'And one more thing, according to the treaty signed between Jyotsar, Ambaragarh and Suryagarh, we have say in each other's kingdoms matters and issues which is valid for this generation only.'

They all have shocked faces but they know better than to cross us.

I have been working on that too but then I remember that some another thing is also important to announce it right now.

I look at my chief soldier whom I invited to the royal court today and say,

'But first, I want to hear the new agenda by the chief soldier for Suryagarh's protection and warfare.'

He bows and stands up from his place, takes out the scroll, addressing the court,

'We have made new policies for the security of Suryagarh, as our borders are quite strong but they lack in some regions, we have decided to build a large group stationed on entrance of Suryagarh.'

I like this but what that group will do. He continues,

'The people entering here to get their names down in 1 of the 4 columns; resident, tourist, traders, or if they are already the resident.'

That's quite a brilliant idea.

'They have to tell on the entrance only if they want to stay here as residents and after their information is taken by us then only we will set out the procedure to give them citizenship of here.

Already residents of here has to show their citizenship and the stamp they used or signs they have on their citizenship scroll, plus all information of theirs, don't worry we are capable to sniff out the fake ones.'

He looks at me for approval and I nod my head,

'If they are here as a tourist then their information, citizenship mark of the state they belong to, the places they will be going and no. of days they are here will be taken down.'

I look at Ekansh because the way details is focused here can only be the work of him. He just smiles and shrugs.

They are really going out of their way to do this for me, to help me restore Suryagarh to its original glory.

Chief soldiers go on,

'Their things will also be searched before entering. After the last day if our stamp is not on their name then an alert will be sent to find them out.'

One thing concerns me which I voice out,

'What if the tourist is a woman? Going through a women's things is not morally right.'

To which Ekansh replies while standing up,

'He seemed to forget to add that in that group of people, women will also be involved who will check and take the info of only women tourist while male ones will take care of male tourists.'

The chief soldier embarrasedly clears his throat and continues,

'Tour tax will be paid there only, if they are here as a trader then they have to first show the grant letter to trade here first and according to that they have to pay the trade duty fee. Their info will also be noted, their work and the place they will be setting up.

The local soldiers will be notified of the traders so they can note down the info in the trade record book.'

I think about it then nod my head thoughtfully, this is a great idea for the security as well as trade purposes.

I look at him and say,

'These are good measures, get it in writing and I will give it my stamp to follow with it. And I also think that we will need record rooms for this much records.'

To which my one of the ministers who handle the construction in Suryagarh replies,

'You are right Raja-sa, if you allow then I will get back to you with designs of record room.'

I nod my head.

This will benefit me in the long run, then chief soldier says,

'We are thinking to practice new warfare tactics and recruit young people from 24 ages, no infants or kids will be involved in the training, plus new weapons are on the way to Suryagarh.'

I nod and agree with him.

I start to move onto another topic when an attendee comes to Viraj and say something in his ear.

Viraj doesn't show any expression and nods at the end sending the attendee away.

When he looks back at me, I raise an eyebrow for him to share.

He comes to me and whispers in my ears,

'We have to attend an emergency issue right now. It demands our attention.'

I nod my head and address the court,

'The court is adjourned for today, things left to discuss will be discussed in another court meeting. And advisor send your scroll to my office for stamp to pass the changes now.'

We three leave the court and enter my office, I close the door then we take our seats and wait for Viraj to speak,

'Himadari's King is in under pressure by his brother to leave the throne or he will be attacked by his brother by the support of local kings as well as Ambari, kingdom part of 'United Hind'.

Himadari's King Divij Rai Singh had declined to be the part of the United Hind as he thought of this as Suryagarh's power over hind.

But he maintained cordial relationship with my empire.

Viraj further says,

'He saved my life once and I promised him that I will repay him whenever he wants that, we should go and settle the situation there.'

I nod my head and say,

'We have to first convince Ambari to withdraw their support, if they didn't then we won't be able to do anything, according to United Hind treaty we can't wage a war against each other.'

We all immerse in our thoughts when Ekansh jumps up and says,

'But there is a loophole in the treaty.'

A loophole? What does he mean by that?

Viraj voices my question,

'What type of loophole?'

Ekansh smiles and says,

'It is clearly stated that the kingdoms in this treaty can't engage in one to one wars, directly or wage a war against each other.'

He looks at us like we should figure out but I don't see anything in his words, he sighs frustratingly and says,

'This war is between Himadari's King and Prince not Ambari, so we are helping Himadari's king in this war to repay his kindness to the Prince of Jyotsar who have asked Suryagarh's and Ambaragarh's help, just like he is helping the Prince of Himadari.'

He is right, technically we aren't doing anything wrong. Viraj also jumps up and says,

'Plus Ambari can't ask for our help or tell us to back out because according to treaty any kingdom can only ask for help from other kingdoms in the treaty if he is directly involved or his immediate family is involved in wars not when he is helping another empire, out of the treaty.'

This just solves our problem but one thing still stands,

'If we wage war helping the King then it could spoil our relationship with Ambari, which is not good, technically in these situations both the kingdoms then back out.'

Viraj says,

'Then pull him out but I am tied by my verbal agreement, pull Ambari and both of you pull yourselves out, thats what I want, Ambari as a companion is very dangerous for Himadari to fight.'

I nod, agreeing with his words.

Ambari is not a small empire its a big empire and their fighting skills are also very good.

Himadari is also not a small kingdom but it doesn't stand a chance against Ambari.

I say,

'Make preparations for our leave, I have to go and talk to Mohini right now.'

They both nod their head and leave the office.

I also head out towards my room.

When I enter there I don't find Mohini, so I check her usual spot, her sitting area in between the pond.

My mother used to call this place 'Chandra Neer', neer means water, and it means that this is the place where moon meets the water in our palace.

I go there to find her surrounded by different herbs, she sniffs them then put it beside her and write something on the paper in front of her.

She leans towards the pool to collect water and I slowly enter there as she is sitting facing her side to me.

But right now she is leaning towards other side.

I tiptoe to her doing my best not to make noise.

I pick up the marigold flower and sit behind her slowly.

The minute marigold flower touches her bare waist, I feel a dagger at my neck with her breathing fire at me.

I lean back dropping the flower and raising my hand in surrender position.

I could see the panic in her eyes but it vanishes instantly, the moment she sees me with the worriedness.

I try to ease her and say while smirking,

'Ab kya hume apni patni ko bhi chhune ka koi adhikaar nahi hai?'

'Now don't I have any right to touch my own wife too?'

Seeing that I am unfazed by her behaviour a small smile comes onto her face.

I lean forward letting it dig some more in my skin and let my other hand to dance on her waist delicately making her gasp in surprise then say,

'Lagta hai aapko khanjar se kuch khasa lagav hai, jab bhi kareeb aate hai toh gardan pe khanjar rakh deti hai.'

'It seems that you have a special love for daggers, whenever I come close, you put the dagger on my neck.'

I leans in more which makes her to withdraw her dagger little to not cut me and use my hand on her waist to pull her closer then say,

'Ab samajh aa raha hai ki aapko khanjar sirf dusron pe chalana hi nahi pasand hai balki khud par bhi vaar karwana accha lagta hai.'

'Now I understand that you not only like to use daggers on others but also like to get stabbed by it.'

Putting my lips on her ear I say,

'Jaise uss raat, aap humare khanjar ke liye tadap rahi thi.'

'Like that night, you were yearning for my dagger.'

I lean back to find a red flush on her skin remembering that night but she recovers from being shy.

She raise a challenged brow then seductively runs the tip of dagger from my neck to the front of my kurta.

She slides the dagger under the string holding the kurta and I raise the brow, impressed by her initiative.

She deliberately wets her lips acting all coy as she cuts all 3 strings but when she goes to open the kurta, I bring my other hand.

My dagger clashes with hers, not letting her to open the kurta then whisper seductively,

'Itna bhi kya utwaala pan, ki seedhe khule mein hi humari sherni ne hum pe dhaaba bol diya.'

'What is so rush, that my lioness attacked us right in the open.'

She tries to move my dagger with hers so I fit the front curved part of my dagger with hers, like hooks hooking in each other.

Then pulls her closer making sure to meet her mischievious eyes.

I could just get lost in those eyes, stare in them all day.

The innocence in there snatches my breath away everytime I meet her eyes like its the first time.

I can't describe this feeling but can say this with no doubt that what I feel for her is more than lust and caring.

I am not ready to accept it but one day for her I will risk this too.

Everything fades away as I just look in her eyes, the need to hide her away from everyone always arises in me.

I may not know my feelings fully right now but I know one thing that she is mine for the rest of my life and every life after this.

And I will be hers for the rest of life and every life after this.

We are still gazing in each others eyes when we hear the clashing of utensils on the ground.

Mohini jumps away from me, again pushing me so hard that my head bangs with the pillar behind me.

I wince in pain and Mohini comes to check the injuries but I remove her hand, glaring at her, she joins her hand and apologizing.

It happens everytime someone catches us in an inappropriate position.

Either she starts to become comfortable or I will forbid everyone for coming closer to us.

I won't stop teasing my wife just because of their bad timing.

I rub my head where I could feel the signs of swelling.

I look back where the noise come from to see flushed Naina and smiling Avantika.

I get up angrily and ask them with gritted teeth,

'Jab aap kisi do jode ko iss tarah ek dusre ke kareeb dekhte hai, toh sharam se jhep ke waha se nikal jaate hai, sabhya aur samajhdaar log, naa ki besharamon ke tarah khade hoke tamasha dekhte hai aur unke milan mein badhaa dalte hai.'

'When you see a couple getting close to each other like this, you move away from the scene with shame, like civilized and sensible people, rather than watching the show like demons and creating obstacles in their meeting.'

To which Avantika replies with wider smile,

'Humne kab kaha ki hum sabhya ya samajhdaar mein se koi hai, hum toh woh besharam hai jo tamashe ka majaa lete hai, aapke milan mein badha Naina ne daali, humne nahi.'

'When did I say that I am among the civilized or intelligent ones, I am the one who enjoy the spectacle, Naina hindered your union, not me.'

When I just glare at her she just smiles even more wider.

Naina speaks up gaining my attention,

'Sabhya aur samajhdaar log apna milan apne kamre tak hi seemat rakhte hai, na ki khole mein logon ko pradarshini dete hai.'

'Civilized and sensible people keep their union confined to their rooms only and do not expose them to people in the open.'

She says it with all attitude then take deep breath after giving her best reply(according to her).

Mohini stands beside me looking apologetic and I say,

'Na toh hum sabhya hai aur na hee samajhdaar hai, aur woh humari biwi hai, hum jo chahe unke saath kare, humara adhikaar hai.'

'I am neither civilized nor intelligent, and she is my wife, I have the right to do whatever I want with her.'

To which Avantika replies nonchantly,

'Then if you do it in public place, you will attract public attention and public will take great pleasure in enjoying it.'

Her reply frustrates and angers me, I move my hand towards her neck then curl it away and stomp my feet in frustration and letting out frustrated 'aaarggghhh!!'

They all look at me but I just move away from there to my room but then I remember that I didn't tell Mohini for which I came to her.

I turn around and say loudly,

'Come back fast Mohini, I have to talk to you about urgent matter.'

Mohini nods but Avantika puts her two coins in this also with amused voice,

'Acting like kids, now you are using kids tricks to get her in the room fast.'

Mohini flushes with embarrasment but I just glare at her with serious frown.

She just shoos me away saying,

'She will come into the room fast, we just have to talk to her for sometime.'

Someday I will explode with anger and down there too with neediness, if people don't stop interrupting our time together.
