43. The Decision Against Malwa

Agam POV

I focus on the men as they look in distress and cry out for justice.

Swati says to me,

'Raja-sa they are the traders of Malwa who set up their trade here in Suryagarh after the new ammendment, that too illegally.'

I nod my head then look at them and ask,

'So you all set your illegal trade here then have the courage to demand for justice?'

They all quiet up from my booming voice, becoming scared.

One of them shows the courage and comes forward saying,

'Hum toh aapke saasre se aaye hai Jawaai ji. Humari ek bhool kshama ki jaa sakti hai. Iss baar hum aapse anumati leke hi karobaar jamenge.'

'We have come from your in-laws, son-in-law. Our one mistake can be forgiven. This time we will start business only after taking permission from you.'

I show them that I am pondering over it for Mohini because I don't want her to think that I am not ready to give them a fair chance.

But I know from inside that I won't allow them to set their trade.

This emotional drama doesn't melt me. And I know that Pankaj Rao has some alternative goal for this trade which I will figure out soon enough.

But I won't let slow poison to be set up here in Suryagarh.

Everyone joins that man saying that they will now do this trade with my permission.

Before I can say, Swati speaks,

'No'

I look back at her then she points at Mohini who starts signing as Swati translates,

'You won't get the permission to trade because these things are discussed between two kings of their kingdoms not with a king and traders.'

This shocks me, I thought that she will melt by their emotional plea.

But she is sitting like a rock in front of them with no emotion on her face.

This is the new face of Mohini which I have seen for the first time. This is not my Mohini but the tough face of the Queen of Suryagarh.

She signs further with Swati translating,

'Plus this royal court is for king, queen, their people and culprits not for relatives. You have committed a crime and you will be punished for this, not be forgiven just because you all are residents of my father's kingdom.'

They all didn't expected this from their Princess too because they are looking at her with shocked faces.

Their mouth hanging open and at loss of words.

I look at Viraj and Ekansh who are looking at her proudly then Ekansh makes nasty face and makes hand gesture which says to me nikamma

Its good that I am sitting here in royal court or I would have gone there and slapped him.

I focus back on Mohini who signs,

'This is not your home that you can come here and not expect any action taken against you.'

This seems to shook them out of their trance and they start to beg to her and say,

'Rajkumari, apne logon pe daya khayiye, hume kshama kariyega. Hum se ye chhoti si bhool hogayi hai.'

'Princess, have mercy on your people, forgive us. We have made this small mistake.'

She gives them a sarcastic smile and asks in sign with Swati translating,

'Mistake? Unintentional mistake?'

They all nod their head so she signs with a smile,

'When is the inaugration of your shops?'

This shuts them up and they lower their eyes in shame. I don't understand what is there to shame about inaugration date.

'Today is the date of the inaugration of your shops. Today you all were going to receive your trade goods.'

Oh so they were going to make mockery of today. Which gives me a reality check that I have to engage myself in our people like before.

I have been very relaxed. Mohini gives them a tight smile and signs as Swati translates mirroring Mohini's expression,

'But guess what? Those things are not allowed to enter the border of Suryagarh and they are already sent back.'

Their eyes widen and fall to their knees then start begging,

'Aisa mat kariye, Rajkumari, bahut paise lage hai karobar jamane mein.'

'Don't do this, princess, a lot of money has been invested in setting up our business.'

I look at Mohini who is looking like a stone pillar who won't melt which her words make clear as she signs and Swati translates,

'Then you should have thought about that before. You kept your inaugration today to make the mockery of today.'

So I understood right, Mohini continues with Swati,

'Tum sab iss bhedchaal mein chal rahe the ki ye toh Rajkumari Mohini hai, inke bol ki koi kimmat nahi hai par tum sab ek baat bhool gaye ki ye Malwa nahi Suryagarh hai.'

'You all are walking in this confusion that this is Rajkumari Mohini, her words have no value but you all are forgetting one thing that this is Suryagarh and not Malwa.'

What did she meant by that? If she was the princess of there, then they wouldn't have listened to her?

'Hum waha ki Rajkumari the par yaha ke hum Rani hai aur humare mukh se nikala har shabd yaha ka kanoon hai. Aur tum sab ne ye kanoon toda hai.'

'I was the princess there but here I am the queen and every word that comes out of my mouth is the law here. And you all have broken this law.'

I am not liking how her words are making murderous thought to rise in my brain.

They all start begging again,

'We had no idea about the ammendment Rajkumari.'

It shows on their face that they had the idea about that.

'Don't lie because I know that you all had known about it because I confirmed it from my spies in the village and I also know who encouraged you all to do this.'

She have her own spies, how much I am lagging behind that I don't know about all this.

I look at Viraj and Ekansh who are looking equally shocked.

Ekansh again gestures with his hand towards me, nikamma

If he doesn't stop, I will go to him and slap him infront of everyone.

Viraj felt my poisonous glare and he puts Ekansh's hands down. Swati speaks and I look back at Mohini who signs,

'Stop begging and be responsible of your actions.'

They have hit some serious nerve if she isn't melting in the least bit.

'Aap sab ne jo apradh kiya hai uska dand ye hai ki aap sab kal subah ki kiran nikalte hi Malwa ke liye prasthaan karenge aur kyunki humare andar aap sabke liye daya hai,

'The punishment for the crime you all have committed is that you all will leave for Malwa at dawn tomorrow and because I still have some kindness for you all,

Isliye aapke Malwa jaane ka prabandh hum karwaenge aur aapko surakshit waha pahunchayenge.'

Therefore, I will make arrangements for your travel to Malwa and will bring you there safely.'

At her decision they all look at each other contemplating to accept it or not.

Mohini comes out of her stony stupor and looks at me worriedly checking if I am angry or not.

And I just shake my head to show that I am not angry in the least bit. How can I be angry when my Queen is fighting for her self respect and worth?

She gives me a small smile then goes to back to her stony shelf when the culprits speak up,

'We would be hit by great loss so don't send us back.'

They literally have the audacity to ask this from her when they disrespect her.

At least she is showing this much kindness, if it was on me, I would have them thrown out of Suryagarh right this second.

Mohini regally signs as Swati composedly answers,

'On my coronation I announced that there will be no trade unless it is personal and only after they are discussed between the kings, did I say that or not?'

One of them steps forward and answers with a frown,

'Par Rajasa ne nahi kaha tha.'

'But the king had not said.'

His answer angers me.

Mohini is the part of Suryagarh as much as I am. Her decision prevails here as the Queen of Suryagarh.

How dare he distinguish between us?

If this goes any longer, I will do something stupid to upset her. I look back at Mohini to ask her if she wants me to handle from now.

But she is already signing with Swati translating,

'According to legislation of Suryagarh, any amendment passed for the empire will be given equal importance in the empire and will be followed by everyone religiously, irrespective of gender, as King and Queen are the nurtrer of their people. When I passed the law, I have already became the queen of this empire and my words are of great priority in this kingdom so your point is baseless.

You chose to ignore our law because it is passed by me and I chose to ignore your pleas because you all are from Malwa.'

I am right now proud of my wife, my Queen and my Mohini.

The way she has signed so far without showing any signs that her hands are aching from paining and the way she stood up for herself.

Right now her courage is turning me on, seeing her in action and how she is handling it.

I could see the respect in the eyes of the kings here too.

I am impressed by Swati who is translating all this without batting an eye. The man who inappropriately answered earlier falls to his knees and beg,

'Ye humari pehli aur akhri bhool hai Ranisa, hume kshama kar dijiye.'

'This is our first and last mistake Ranisa, please forgive us.'

Mohini doesn't melt and signs with Swati translating,

'Abhi kamse kam aap sabke jaane ka bandobast kar rahe hai agar abhi aap log isse nahi maane toh kal subah ki pehli kiran ke saath humare sainik aapko Suryagarh seema ke bahar chhod ke aaenge.'

'Right now I am even making arrangements for everyone's departure, if you do not agree then tomorrow at dawn our soldiers will come to you and throw you out of Suryagarh.'

Her warning shuts all of them because they have understood now that they don't stand any chance of setting their trade here.

They turn to look at me which angers me because they think that I will cross her decision.

But they have no idea that I will never cross her. I say,

'Jo dand mila hai usse adaar se swikariye aur yaha se jaake aapne jaane ki taiyaari shuru kariye.'

'Accept the punishment you have received with dignity and start preparing to leave from here.'

When they receive the same response from me their head falls down in front and they stand up.

My soldiers escort them out.

Then I address the court,

'I am sorry for this misunderstanding and mistake on Suryagarh's part, we will make sure that nothing like this happen again by us.'

Every king there nods their head, then the court is dismissed and the kings are escorted back to their rooms to enjoy for the rest of day.

We leave the court together. Outside the court, I stop Mohini then put my palm on her cheeks lovingly as she looks at me with a smile and frown.

I take a breath and say,

'Hume aapko abhi chhodna hoga, hume Ekansh aur Viraj ke saath kuch kaam hai, hum aapse baad mein milte hai.'

'I have to leave you now, I have some work with Ekansh and Viraj, I will meet you later.'

She nods her head with a smile and I look back to see smiling Ekansh and as usual brooding Viraj.

I indicate towards the office and we move towards that direction.

We enter there and took our seat.

Viraj starts,

'Everything there was handled very smoothly, I have to say that.'

I nod my head and I am still in awe at how Mohini handled that whole situation there.

Ekansh leans forward and asks,

'Par hume ek baat badi ajeeb lagi, Bhabhisaa ne jab bhi Malwa ki baat ki usse saaf pata chal raha tha ki Malwa mein unka koi samman nahi tha.'

'But I found one thing very strange, when Mohini talked about Malwa, it was clear that she had no respect in Malwa.'

That I noticed too. Viraj nods his head thoughtfully and says,

'Hume bhi unki baat se yahi abhaas ho raha tha.'

'I was also getting the same impression from her words.'

I will find out about that too, but I have to tread to get this information from Mohini very carefully or she will close up.

I reply,

'We will look in that afterwards.'

They frown at my disinterest. This is not their problem, its mine and I myself will look into this.

I continue on,

'Any news on Ramaji, where he is hiding or anything? Did he approached the Suryagarh even single time?'

They both shake their head, which doesn't give me the satisfaction.

I can't capture Mohini in this fort forever, and it is really frustrating that I can't take her out when she loves to explore places.

I sigh in frustration, I can't even force her to understand that the person she loves so much, her brother, is the one who is planning to kill her.

She will never understand, I don't even know why would he try to kill her?

They both are mirroring my emotions of frustration.

Viraj suddenly gives me an evil smile and I frown at that then ask him,

'Why are you smiling all of a sudden?'

He answers nonchantly,

'I just found out a way to release our frustration and its waiting for you in dungeon.'

I frown but they both standup and I see Ekansh also having an expression of pure evilness.

They walk out and I follow them to the dungeon.

We enter the dungeon to find the crying mess of Prince of Avsari and looks of horror on the faces of finance advisor as well as the head.

This surely puts me in jovial and evil mood, clearing my frustration. Pointing at advisor and head, I ask Viraj,

'When did you nabbed these fools?'

He looks at me with a really? look and I give him an evil smile.

I look at them and say,

'Welcome to my relaxation abode.'

They both cower but advisor tried to be brave and says,

'Y-You c-can't d-do t-this t-to u-us, y-you a-are d-disrespecting u-us a-and w-what i-is t-this p-place? W-We n-never k-knew t-that t-this p-place e-existed.'

Listening to him speak gives me a headache so I make a shush sign, rushing to him like a crazed man and say menacingly,

'This is my place and only when I allow you, only then you can speak.'

This shuts both of their lips tightly, I relax my body and say with a crazy smile,

'You don't know about this place because this is ours and whoever we let about it known, it means that the person is going to die, very painfully.'

Fear of another level entered in their eyes and they go to open their mouth again but I put a finger on my lips with a crazed smile on my face and say,

'Shush, Shush! Did I gave you the permission to speak?'

They huddle closer. Seeing their such state is so pathetic. They try to be so brave but in reality they are nothing but sad creatures.

They only know to show power on people weaker than them.

I turn to Prince of Avsari, the moment my dark gaze meets his, he cowers more in the shadows.

I step towards him and crouch infront of him, he is all bloody.

His wrists and ankles are tied in chains, he has been beaten by hands and whips.

I forward my hand for the cloth and Ekansh hands it to me, I use the cloth to wipe the blood from his face while pressing harshly on his wounds making him cry.

He starts to feel the agony and starts screaming because of the salt on the cloth.

I put the cloth aside then grab his face tightly in my hand and say in a low, menancing voice,

'Ye aapke saath jo hua wo sirf ek jhalak thi, agar aapne woh dobara kiya jo uss samay aapne rajya sabha mein kiya tha, toh isse bhi battar halat hogi aapki.'

'What happened to you was just a glimpse, if you did again what you had done in the Rajya Sabha then, your condition would be even worse.'

I push him back harshly making him whimper in pain, then I look at Viraj and Ekansh who free him.

They roughly make him stand and escort him out of there.

I turn back to the advisor and the head, they cower away from me which gives me immense delight.

Seeing their fear, I give them a fake smile trying to appear non-dangerous.

I pick up the hot oil on the torture table then pour it on their neck. They start crying out in pain.

After pouring the oil, I crouch in front of them and say,

'Hume pata hai ki woh aap dono the jiske karan unn vyapariyon mein itna dum aaya apna vyapar yahan pe jamane ka.'

'I know that it was you two because of which those traders got so much courage to establish their business here.'

I pick up a thin stick and struck them then say,

'I wanted to burn your fingers for giving them the grant but it was your voice that angered me more as you disrespected my Mohini with that voice.'

They whimper not able to scream because of burnt neck and I continue on,

'You both don't deserve the voice given, if pure soul like my Mohini don't deserve her voice then why do you both?'

They constantly shake their head, I raise the stick but seeing their pathetic condition stops me.

They disgust me so I throw the stick away and stand up when Viraj and Ekansh enter again.

I look at them as they intently focus on them so I just say,

'Escort them out.'

Then looked at them and said,

'Don't show your face until your neck is healed.'

A cloth is tied on their eyes and then they are escorted out.

I also walk out the dungeon thinking while smiling.

Finally we are coronated, and soon our time of union will come.
